க்ளாசிக் கார்ட்டூன் கலெக்‌ஷன் ஸ்பெஷல்: எனது பார்வையில்…..

முதலில் சில சரி செய்யப்படவேண்டிய விஷயங்கள் (இவற்றை சரி செய்யாவிட்டாலும் காமிக்ஸ் தொடர்ந்து வரும், நாமும் படிப்போம் தான். ஆனால், சரி செய்தால், நம்முடன் சேர்ந்து இன்னமும் சில பேர் அதிகமாக படிப்பார்கள்).

பாக்ஸ் செட் என்ற பாணி அறிமுகமானது நல்ல விஷயம். ஆனால் அவை வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட விதம் தான் எனக்கு உறுத்தியது. அவற்றில் எனக்கு மூன்று விஷயங்கள் உறுத்தியது.

1.   பாக்ஸ் செட்டின் ஆக்கமும், வடிவமைப்பும் பட்டாசு பார்சலைப்போலவே இருந்தது. காமிக்ஸ் புத்தக பெட்டி போல தெரியவே இல்லை (நம்ம சிவகாசி ஊர் ஸ்பெஷாலிடி என்று ஏதாவது Tribute செய்வதாக இருந்தால், வேறு விஷயத்தில் செய்யுங்கள் சார், இதில் வேண்டாம்).

2.   பாக்ஸ் செட்டின் அட்டையில் இருக்கும் 350 என்ற எண் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட விதம் அது 50 என்பதை உரக்க கூறியது. ஆனால், 350 என்பதை தெரிந்துக்கொள்ள நிறைய நேரம் ஆனது.

3.   இந்த க்ளாசிக் கார்ட்டூன் கலெக்‌ஷன் ஸ்பெஷல் இதழுக்கு பெயர் சூட்டும் போட்டியை (?!?!?!) நீங்கள் இங்கே ப்ளாக்கில் அறிவித்த போது, அந்தப்பெயரை பரிந்துரைத்தவர் மேச்சேரி ரவி கண்ணன் அவர்கள் (என்று நினைக்கிறேன்). அவரது பெயரை எங்கேயேணும் குறிப்பிட்டு இருக்கலாம். ஒருவேளை வேலைச்சுமையால் மறந்து இருந்தால், அடுத்து வரும் இதழில் இதனை சொல்வீர்கள் (3ன்று நம்புகிறேன்).

இனிமேல் கதைகளுக்கு வருவோம்.

1.   சிக் பில் கதையான மாறிப்போன மாப்பிள்ளையை எனது நண்பருக்கு பரிசளித்து இருந்தேன். அவருக்கு இந்த கதையை விவரிப்பதற்குள் எனக்கு நாக்கு தள்ளி விட்டது. May be, பின்னட்டையில் சிக் பில் யார், ஷெரிப் யார் என்பதை விளக்கி இருந்தால், புதியவர்களுக்கு உதவியாக இருக்கும். நண்பர் கேட்ட முதல் கேள்வி, கதை எங்கே நடக்கிறது? என்பதை என்னைப்போன்ற புதியவர்கள் எப்படி புரிந்துக் கொள்வது? ஷெரிப் என்றால் யார்? அல்லது என்ன? (7 நாட்களில் எமலோகம் போல பின்னட்டையில் சிறு குறிப்பு அளித்திருக்கலாம்).

2.   அதே சமயம், நமது காமிக்ஸை படிப்பவர்கள் 80 சதவீதம் பேர் பழைய ஆட்களே என்பதால், அவர்களுக்கு இது உறுத்தலாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால், புதிய வாசகர்களை நாடிச்செல்லும் இவ்வேளையில், இது போன்ற விஷயங்களை நாம் கருத்தில் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளலாமே?

3.   இதழின் எடிட்டோரியலின் பின்னணியில் நீங்கள் 350 என்ற எண்ணை பெரிய சைசில் போட்டு இருப்பது, அந்த பக்கங்களை படிக்கையில் மிகவும் உறுத்தியதோடில்லாமல், இடைஞ்சலாகவும் இருந்தது. 4.   ஸ்மர்ஃப் மற்றும் தாத்தா லியானார்டோவின் கதைகள் இரண்டுமே பொடியர்களுக்கு படிக்க, கதை சொல்ல அருமையாக இருந்த்து. ஆகையால், இந்த பேக்கேஜில் சிக் பில் கதை தேவையா? என்ற ஒரு சந்தேகமும் எழுந்த்து. ஆனால், வைப்பது ஒரே ஒரு சாம்பார் தான். அதில் மேலா எடுத்தால், ரசம். நடுவில் எடுத்தால் சாம்பார். கீழே எடுத்தால், கூட்டு என்ற நிலைப்பாடில் அனைவரையும் மகிழ்விக்க நீங்கள் செய்யும் முயற்சி என்பது புரிகிறது. இருந்தாலும், இவை தனியே பொடியர்களுக்கு என்றே வந்திருக்கலாம்.

சிக் பில் கதையைப் பற்றி…

மிகவும், சாதாரணமான அடைப்படம். ஏகப்பட்ட சிகப்பு நிறம் மிகவும் உறுத்தியது. அதனால் தான் இதனை ஸ்மர்ப்ஸ் மற்றும் லியானார்டோவுடன் சேர்த்திருக்க வேண்டாம். மனோதத்துவ நிப்ய்ணர்கள் கூறுவது என்ன என்றால், சிவப்பு நிறம், அது சார்ந்தவற்றை சிறுவயதில் குழந்தைகளுக்கு அதிகமாக expose செய்யக்கூடாது என்பதே. ஆனால், கதை படிக்க விறுவிறுப்பாகச் சென்றது என்பதை மறுக்கவே முடியாது. நடு நடுவில் (மொக்கை கதையை) மெறுகேற்றியது சில பல வசனங்கள். அதற்காகவே உங்களுக்கு ஒரு பாராட்டு. இந்தக் கதை நிச்சயமாக காமெடி கர்னல் அள்விற்கு இல்லையென்றாலும், கண்டிப்பாக அடுத்த கதையை எதிர்நோக்க வைத்துவிட்டார் கப் கேக் கர்னல்.

நேற்று லயன் காமிக்ஸ் எடிட்டரின் வலைதளத்தில் ஒரு மூன்று கமெண்ட் போட்டு இருந்தேன்.  (தப்பு தான், இருந்தாலும் என்ன செய்வது? மூன்று வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவரை பெங்களூரு காமிக் கானில் முதல் முறையாக சந்தித்தப் போது, அவரிடம் கேட்ட ஒரு கேள்விக்கு இப்போது பதில் அளித்ததால் வந்த விளைவு இது).

அதாவது, காமெடி கர்னல் பற்றிய பதிவு என்பதால் ஆர்வம் மேலிட கமெண்ட் போட்டு இருந்தேன். இதோ அந்த கமெண்ட்டுகள் கொண்ட ஸ்க்ரீன் ஷாட்.

அதில் இரண்டாவது கமெண்ட் பற்றியதே இந்த பதிவு.

அதாவது, இரண்டாவது கமெண்ட்டில் ஒரு லின்க் கொடுத்து இருந்தேன். கோவையை சேர்ந்த ஒரு காமிக்ஸ் நண்பரின் கை வண்ணத்தில் வெளிவந்த ஸ்கான்லேஷன் புத்தகங்களின் ஆன்லைன் லின்க் தான் அது.

The MYTH of QUALITY in Tamil comics

Re Re Re prints: The last post was about the quality about translation. This one is all about printing.

BTW, I had no intention of buying these forgot-how-many-times-re-printed books. but for my father, i would have given them a sure shot miss. he insisted that we buy these books. on that note, i bought.
Book 1: johnny nero story

just see the QUALITY or lack of it. The printing was such that there is no need to go to the next page or previous page i.e. we can read them in the same page.

for example, here is a scan of pages 8 & 9. By virtue of such fantastic printing quality, i can read page no 7 and page no 10 in these pages itself.  i believe this is a task to make sure that we read the 120 page book by reading only 60+ pages and thereby saving our precious little time.

if you believe that this is an error and only happened in one such book, have a look into the second book i bought and this is the sample from the second book.

There are certain things that do happen in multiples: disasters are sure to rank high in this list. to make sure that i am not biased, i bought the same book  again (via my uncle who visited chennai last week). The good thing was that he got 10% discount in a book shop in chennai, whereas you get nothing when you buy it from the publisher himself.

The 3rd and 4th book were also of the same quality. the above is the scan from the 3rd book that wasted. For some time i wondered that, OK, these printing errors do happen only in the first 2 sets of forms. (Forms are nothing but a section of 16 pages).

however, when i looked in to the entire book, the printing standards were maintained with the same consistency. Here i take the opportunity to congratulate our publisher for maintaining the same printing standards across 4 books (2 were bought from the publisher themselves and the remaining 2 in a chennai book shop).

Error 2: Corel-draw Lines

There are certain things that communicate absolute lack of responsibility. Of late, my beloved publisher is falling into the same vicious circle. Take a look at the following image

in the above scan, take a closer look at the speech balloon and the message box. you will see clear lines in each of them. Now, when you are typing in Tamil in these images using corel draw, you will use these circles inside the balloons and the boxes.

But it is mandatory to erase them once you have typed it and checked for errors. However in almost every alternate page, i can see that these corel draw lines were left un deleted. This shows absolutely no respect for the reader and almost borders on arrogance that whatever i print, you habe no choice but to buy.

Also, i believe, that this shows the level of responsibility that the publisher takes. No offense meant as he often says, once i print these books, i - myself - do not look at them.

Also, there are certain places in which the old text was not completely erased (more on that is reserved for a later day  post).

Make no mistake, if there is a deserved praise, i shall be the first one to make sure it reaches the right people, as well as making sure that no wrong accusation is also made. Not sure about my claim, read my first post.
